Emission Trading Scheme (ETS)

Whilst the debate over an ETS (emissions trading system) is still in play, it should be noted that the introduction of an ETS does have the ability to fast track the introduction of electric vehicles onto our roads by changing the economics of introducing such a technology. As the amount of carbon emitted from both electricity generation and vehicles will be reduced dramatically through the introduction of a vehicle to grid system, an ETS can simply aid policy decisions which allow expenditure on the required infrastructure to be introduced systematically.

We eagerly await firm targets on future emissions and the function an ETS will play in getting us there. Furthermore, climate debate Copenhagen will likely bring about some interesting changes world wide as countries realise as we experience the hottest decade on earth that time is running out to take strong action to prevent climate change.
